2021.10.26 00:22 PArecluse How did you get the 20% trade-in discount for your new Paperwhite order?
| My trade-in was approved, and they issued the $25 gift card, but I cannot find anything about how to get the also-promised 20% discount applied to the order for a 2021 Paperwhite Signature Edition. I spent more than half an hour in chat with an Amazon rep, and he said the best he could do was put a note on my account that someone should deduct the 20% when they ship the order. Like I trust that? Not. |
If you traded in a previous Paperwhite that was accepted and ordered a 2021 model, how did you get the 20% discount applied to the order?
And look at how long the wait is now.

2021.10.26 00:22 KrattBoy2006 Cassandra's Father is Tromous - My Theory
In my mind, the best and only candidate for Cassandra's biological father would be Tromous, A.K.A. Matthews.
If it were any member of the Brotherhood, it wouldn't make sense because Zhan Tiri would've used that to coerce Cass into jacking the Moonstone instead of primarily showing how she was abandoned. Plus, Gothel wouldn't have been able to seduce any members because of their loyalty to the Moonstone and their desires to keep the world away from it.
People believe that it could be King Fredrick and while that could be the case, I feel like it would complicate the story, and once again, Zhan Tiri would've disclosed that to Cassandra.
A theory that I used to have was that the Captain was Gothel's old lover before he got a promotion and when he had hunted Gothel down and found Cass, he recognized her as his daughter, but I don't really believe in that because it kinda over perpetuates the stereotype of "all bio parents = good" and I feel like the conflict would feel a bit cheap if both were her real parents.
Meanwhile Gothel has already known Tromous along with Sugracha. Both of them have a history together, with that being they followed Lord Demanitus and later betrayed him when they freed Zhan Tiri. I can see that their allegiance would've already driven them to have an attachment to one another.
In several cults, certain 'relations' among party members were very common, so I wouldn't be surprised if Gothel and Tromous became an item. They were also the only members of Zhan Tiri's party who weren't banished.
The timeline is pretty iffy though since S3 implies that Gothel was around for 2 millenia because of the Sundrop flower and Tromous was in the in-keeper of the House of Yesterday's Tomorrows for that long. But I think there is one way to reconcile the media.
I think once Zhan Tiri was locked away, Gothel and Tromous went their separate ways and Gothel found the Sundrop flower and hoarded it for herself. This de-aged her enough to be able to bear a child. She travelled around the world in order to share her newfound beauty, and ran into her old partner, Tromous. Tromous obviously couldn't keep it in his pants and thus Cass was created. This lead to Gothel herself relying more and more on the Sundrop flower because childbirth is a bitch and a half. She finally gave birth to Cass. However, Gothel couldn't risk Tromous potentially stealing the Sundrop away from her so she booked it.
This would also expand upon Zhan Tiri's manipulation: Cass is the daughter of two of the three disciples who had helped her, so thus she viewed her as an absolution from her prison. And it's possible that Zhan Tiri told Cassandra that Tromous is her real father and that she shouldn't fight him.
A bonus: I think Cassandra was practically a human experiment on Gothel's end. Like, she expected her to carry some of the Sundrop's power, but it didn't and because of that, she despised her for that.
TLDR: Cassandra's biological father was a minion of Zhan Tiri.

2021.10.26 00:22 golden_tyger Question about processing timeline for concurrent EB adjustment of status applications
Does anyone know how does the USCIS process concurrent filings of I-140 (regular processing) and I-485?
I understand that no action is taken on the I-485 until a decision has been made on the underlying I-140. But then what happens after the I-140 is approved? Does the USCIS start processing the I-485 right away or do they place it at the back of the queue of other I-485 applications as if it's just been submitted at that time? Or do they do something else?
In other words, does filing the I-485 together with the I-140 make any difference in terms of the total processing time compared to submitting it right after the I-140 has been approved? Any insights would be appreciated.

2021.10.26 00:22 blahblahblah736 Huge compared to friends
I'm 15, almost 16 and I compared to some of my friends recently. When we showed each other, I was massive compared to everyone else. Does this mean I grew faster than all my friends? I've never really measured so idk how big I am but all I know is I was probably a few inches longer than my other friends when hard. I'm not really sure if this is normal or what but it felt kinda cool I guess

Just curious wondering how often you all play guitar? I'll play for a few days for like 2 hours or so and then maybe not be able to play for like a a couple days to a week and feel pretty bad about it. Lol

2021.10.26 00:22 Acrobatic_Ad1514 How to charge for consulting services?
Context: I was recently with a large global Freight Forwarder for a number of years as an Import Manager. Over time I developed a good business relationship with a Sr. Director at their large customer. I left the company over summer and have started my own logistics company, though we only offer domestic transportation.
I’ve remained in touch with my contact and he’d like us to support with some of their domestic needs. At lunch today, he asked if I would be interested in doing some consulting work for them on the international side - before I could answer, he said “Don’t worry, we’d pay you handsomely”
I told him of course, I’d love to, though not much more was said. I’d likely support them with an RFP in Winte22-Spring/23. Not a lot of detail. They’re a large importer, household name, though relatively inexperienced & small team.
I’m flattered by the request, though not a clue what to charge for something like this. Simply Google the going rate for a halfway decent-looking freelance recruiter & charge something similar? Any other thoughts/suggestions?
(Don’t worry, I’d obviously want to understand the entire scope before throwing pricing together)

2021.10.26 00:22 graywolf324 Is anyone in their 30's and still depressed and apathetic?
Just wondering. All the posts I see on reddit surrounding depression/apathy are people in their teens/early 20's, leaving me to believe that people in their 30's have moved on past this.
I'm approaching 30 very quick (29) and still haven't figured it out.
I have a great job, good place to live, good health and diet, friends etc. but I just... don't care. I hate working, despite having a low stress creative job. I can't even exercise or do my hobbies anymore because I just don't care.
I thought I'd grow out of this funk, and by taking meds, doing weekly therapy, working hard, and doing exercise and hobbies and seeing friends that I'd snap out of it, but it just hasn't happened yet.
Sorry to be a bummer, truly, just looking for some support from my older redditor buddies.

2021.10.26 00:22 hn82ka Codesignal score expiration?
I had an 826 proctored score from February this year, but I applied to Roblox and they only accept scores after April 2021.
Is this common or just a Roblox thing?

2021.10.26 00:22 utjj1221 The Cloud of Unknowing?
Who wrote The Cloud of Unknowing? I cannot find the author on Amazon. I have been delving into Catholic mysticism for some time and based on The Interior Castle, The Ascent of Mt Carmel, and The Dark Night of the Soul, Amazon recommended that book. It says it is "Christian Mysticism" but that could mean anything in today's religious climate. I am normally not opposed to reading Christian books that aren't strictly "Catholic" (I love C.S. Lewis and N.T. Wright), but I find the topic of mysticism to be far too deep, confusing, and important to risk consuming and integrating practices and information that aren't orthodox.
Basically, does anyone know anything about it, and is it orthodox/good catholic teaching?
